Occupational Therapy
How does Occupational Therapy work with your Doctor?
Occupational Therapy is designed to support your doctor's efforts by providing assessments and training that are specific to your activities of daily living. An Occupational Therapist is able to provide you with the time and attention that is
needed to follow through with your doctor's wishes for optimal results. After receiving recommendations from your doctor and assessing your remaining vision, The Lighthouse Occupational Therapist may:
- Identify the best magnification to meet your reading / writing goals
- Provide visual skills training to improve your functional vision
- Provide training in your home to ensure safety and independence
- Recommend lighting and other adaptive aids as needed
- Refer you to other Lighthouse programs for specialized training and support, as needed
