Assistive Technology and Assessment Training
Assistive Technology Training is an intensive training program in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office. Individual training sessions on how to use screen-readers and screen-magnifiers software are also offered for individuals who have no vision or low vision. The training is designed to provide participants with the skills needed for administrative support jobs and other positions that require computer literacy. Once participants have completed training, if applicable, they can apply for supportive employment through Louisiana Rehabilitation Services related to their vocational goals.
The recent proliferation of computers, adaptive equipment and software has opened the door to a wide range of job opportunities for people who are blind. Our full-time computer instructor assists job candidates with specific needs relating to employment options. We also assist companies in evaluating and installing adaptive software and hardware, when requested.
